*I Fabliaux – Rhapsody for One Actor* is a theatrical rhapsody for a single performer that weaves together physical theater, storytelling, clowning, and commedia dell’arte. Drawing inspiration from medieval fabliaux —the precursors to the Decameron—the performance spans the centuries to examine the present, giving life to a grotesque, ironic, and deeply contemporary tale.
Through a lively and flexible dramaturgy and a direct relationship with the audience, each performance is rewritten in dialogue with the space, the audience, and the context in which it takes place, transforming every performance into a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience.

The show was developed through artist residencies in Italy, Belgium, and France.

Premiered at the Le Mois Molière Festival in Versailles, the Festival d’Avignon Off 2024, the Laboratorium Troubleyn in Antwerp, and the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris.

The theater company I Nuovi Scalzi was officially founded in 2011, with its registered office in Barletta.
The members’ artistic exploration has been refined through their work with artists such as Claudio De Maglio, Pierre Byland, Carlo Boso, Emma Dante, Michelangelo Campanale, Giorgio Rossi, and many others.
The company performs physical and visual theater using the expressive language of masks, contemporary circus, and the performing arts.
Among the various awards received: “Best Production” (for “La Ridiculosa commedia della terra contesa”) at the 7th Mont Laurier International Festival (Canada); “Best Acting” special mention at the DOIT 2015 Festival, Rome (Italy); “Best Production,” “Best Leading Actress,” and “Best Supporting Actor” at the 1st Sharm El Sheikh International Theater Festival for Youth (Egypt); “Best Performance” at the 14th ProContra International Festival in Szczecin (Poland).
